29 Jun Insta Crush: Pen on Paper by Kahyan
Deep thoughts and stories that translate into visual illustration; exploration through art – that is what Kahyan Lim of @kikiyaya has a flair for. Stunning hand-drawn illustrations fill up the Instagram feed of this 23-year-old Advertising and Graphic Design diploma graduate. Currently working as a designer in an advertising agency, Kahyan writes down her ideas and works them into life at her leisure. In a world where graphic illustration is gaining popularity, her art using pen on paper is a refreshing breath of air.
Kahyan believes that positivity keeps us mentally and emotionally healthy. As a result, each of her artwork is created with the aim to share a positive message with the world. Through this, Kahyan hopes to lighten her viewer’s mood.
Kahyan also finds comfort in volunteering. Working with charities that help with domestic violence and child abuse, Kahyan offers her time by painting murals for women protection shelters in the hope of bringing a ray of sunshine to their lives. She enjoys the simple pleasure of interacting with the victims – learning their struggles and triumphs. Each story, she finds, is heart-stopping and compelling in their own way.
Love Kahyan’s work? Well, she occasionally sells her pieces at small indie bazaars. Her creations range from cards to calendars and stickers, which you can bring home for yourself or present to someone as a gift. Either way, Kahyan hopes that you love her art as much as she does!
